The IndoPacific App is now set to host all major documents produced as a part of the roundtables & advocacy efforts under the AIStandard.io initiative by the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law, as open-access. You will find all the documentation files, outcome documents, reports and other publicly accessible documents under the AIStandard.io initiative there.

The ISAIL Secretariat calls for technology companies, start-ups, research labs, open-source communities, and developer associations to become the Alliance Members of the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law.

Why AI Standardisation?

AI standardization is crucial for maintaining the ethical and responsible development of AI technologies. By establishing clear guidelines and benchmarks, AIStandard.io aims to mitigate risks associated with AI, foster trust among users, and promote the sustainable growth of AI innovations. Our platform serves as a vital resource for anyone involved in AI development, from tech professionals to policymakers, providing the tools and insights needed to navigate the complex AI landscape.

The Bharat Pacific Principles of Artificial Intelligence Standardisation

  • AI Standards are established based on their technical, commercial, legal, and ethical imperatives, applicable at post-regulatory, regulatory, and pre-regulatory stages of governance. Therefore, a standard remains flexible and adaptable, retaining its nuanced purpose throughout its application.

  • AI Standards must be adaptable to different contexts, including varied economic, cultural, and regulatory environments.

  • AI Standards may be developed to promote interoperability between different AI systems and encourage collaboration across industries and regions.

  • AI Standards may be designed to be relevant across all industries, or they may have specific considerations for unique sector requirements.

  • AI standards should be developed to prevent or minimise the creation of market hype cycles, reducing the risk of such cycles across economies.

  • AI standards should be forward-looking, ensuring the long-term sustainability and scalability of AI technologies.

  • The development of AI Standards must be guided by prioritising credible AI applications and rigorously evaluate claims to avoid hype and ensure practical relevance.

  • AI Standards must be developed with the spirit to involve diverse stakeholders, including researchers, startups, industry experts, policymakers, and civil society, in the standardization process to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Recognising the inherent dignity and equal and inalienable rights of all individuals, AI standards must be developed and implemented in a manner that upholds the principles of justice, equality, and inclusivity.

How can we verify the accreditation of ISAIL for any certifying standard?

Here are a few steps that you may undertake to verify the accreditation provided to any institution by the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law.

  • The Secretariat at the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law is responsible to examine every application and renewal application for certifying standards on the basis of an evidence-based marking criteria, wherein we examine the application and ask the applicant institution to submit a form based on our marking criteria.

  • Once we receive the applicant institution's application and the marking form, we initiate the process of examination of key resources and details associated with the application / renewal application, within a stipulated period notified to the applicant.

  • Once the examination is complete, we notify our objections / affirmative response and general remarks to the applicant institution and make a final decision.

  • Even if an institution is accreditated with a ISAIL Certification Standard, individuals and organisations may submit their feedback to us at executive@isail.co.in on the accreditation of an ISAIL Standard provisioned to an institution. If the objections persist, and after our re-examination, it is found that the applicant institution should not be accreditated with a particular ISAIL Certification Standard(s), we will notify the concerned institution and terminate the accreditation they have received for a particular ISAIL Certification Standard.

The Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL.IN) is an artificial intelligence industry forum, founded by Abhivardhan in 2018. Our mission as an independent, not-for-profit industry forum for the analytics & AI industry in India is to promote responsible development of artificial intelligence and its standardisation in India.

Enforcing AI standards in the Indian and Indo-Pacific markets is hard. And yet, ISAIL.IN intends to document data and inputs associated with the market tendencies around three facets of artificial intelligence: its adoption, research around it, and its real-life policy implications across as many sectors as possible.

This is why, the AiStandard.io Alliance, administered by ISAIL.IN, intends to establish an allies of AI entities in India, Asia and the Global South, to develop market-friendly AI standards, with sector-specific, and sector-neutral contexts.
