My time at ISAIL has been wonderful as this internship opportunity provided me with invaluable foundational experience in the field of AI laws and policies. This subject has always interested me a lot and ISAIL was the best place to further explore it. ISAIL introduced me to numerous niche areas of research through weekly assignments. I was able to research and analyse documents like “AI competency framework for Government Officials”, “Report on AI Governance Guidelines Development”, “Adversarial Machine Learning: A Taxonomy and Terminology of Attacks and Mitigation”. I learned various new concepts and with my improved skills in drafting, research, and critical thinking, I was well equipped to construct my discussion paper titled “Federated Learning In Indian Healthcare: Legal and Policy Challenges” over the course of the internship for my final submission. All thanks to Mr Abhivardhan who was especially a great mentor. He was understanding and guided us through each step patiently. I could not recommend a better place to intern at than ISAIL for anyone seeking meaningful projects, excellent mentorship, and a truly supportive environment.

My four-week internship at the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL), under the mentorship of Mr. Abhivardhan, was an incredibly enriching and productive experience. Throughout the internship, I had the opportunity to work on thought-provoking weekly assignments, collaborate with a cohort of fellow research interns, and co-develop ideas that deepened my understanding of the legal-tech space, particularly the complex intersections of copyright and artificial intelligence.

Mr. Abhivardhan was consistently kind, patient, and supportive throughout the programme. He took the time to personally guide us each week, dedicating an hour to discuss recent developments in law and technology, help us navigate key reports and legal texts, and provide constructive feedback on our assignments. His mentorship was never rushed; he truly cared about helping us grow as legal researchers.

One of the highlights of the internship was the opportunity to publish papers/reports under ISAIL’s guidance. The feedback I received was always focused on refining our arguments, improving clarity, and enhancing the structure of our work.

The internship also offered a very collaborative environment. Working with other research interns allowed for engaging peer discussions and diverse perspectives, which made the learning process even more valuable.

During my internship at ISAIL, I had the privilege of delving into the fascinating intersection of blockchain, law, and digital finance. My primary focus was on exploring the transformative potential of decentralized technologies, particularly Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and blockchain, in shaping the digital economy. This research culminated in a discussion paper titled "Decentralized Solutions: Exploring Distributed Ledger Technology and Blockchain's Role in the Digital Economy."
Throughout my internship, I engaged in rigorous analysis of regulatory policies surrounding blockchain, examining their potential to enhance transparency and efficiency in financial transactions. During my internship as a Research Intern at ISAIL, I had the unique opportunity to work at the pinnacle intersection of AI, law, and financial markets. My primary focus involved studying the intricate interplay between artificial intelligence, legal frameworks, and also dealt with stock trading mechanisms, including algorithmic trading for the purposes necessitated for my Discussion Paper. This position required a strong analytical approach and a keen eye for detail, as I analysed regulatory policies impacting AI-driven systems and provided insights into the current legal landscape around these technologies.
One of the most enriching aspects of the internship was when ISAIL gave me the necessitated exposure to varied group discussions on the evolving role of AI in law. These sessions gave me comprehensive insight on varied perspectives, helping me grasp the complexities and ethical considerations surrounding AI applications in societies’ dynamic reliance on technology.
