Article 1

General Terms

1. Effective from the formal inception date of September 9, 2026, the Secretariat transitions eligible Ordinary Members into the academic tier, formally constituting them as the First ISAIL Academic Council designated as Academic Members of the Society.

2. The maximum common expiration date for Academic Members under this transitional cohort transitioned by the Secretariat shall be July 1, 2028, running from the inception date of September 9, 2026, unless an individual voluntarily relinquishes their membership prior to that date.

3. Induction as of the inception date does not confer a blanket or automatic extension through July 1, 2028 to all transitioning members. The grant of tenure extending up to the common expiration date of July 1, 2028 is reserved exclusively for the fifty-nine members inducted or renewed between December 22, 2024 and September 5, 2026 who are evaluated and approved by the Secretariat, including appointed Technical and Policy Convenors and confirmed substantive contributors. All other members within the cohort not approved for this maximum term shall receive differentiated, shorter tenures determined by the Secretariat based on historical onboarding, operational requirements, and continued adherence to Article 4.

4. This transitional framework expressly supersedes all prior governance, tenure, and advisory arrangements, applying equally to existing Honorary Members who are hereby reclassified and delegated as Honorary Academic Members of the Society. Notwithstanding the common expiration cap of July 1, 2028, members of the cohort who were previously granted three-year commitments under their existing terms shall have their Academic Membership preserved and protected until their respective thirty-six-month terms conclude, extending through August 31, 2029, unless voluntarily relinquished or revoked under Article 4.

5. All elevations, term harmonisations, and reclassifications executed under this transitional provision constitute discretionary internal governance determinations of the Board of Trustees and the Secretariat. Acceptance or continuation of Academic Membership, convenorship responsibilities, or institutional affiliations under this cohort constitutes voluntary consent to this administrative framework. These internal transitional adjustments do not confer actionable legal entitlements, vested employment rights, or justiciable claims against the Society, its Trustees, or the Secretariat, with all administrative interpretations by the Board of Trustees remaining final, non-justiciable, and conclusive.
