Professor Srinivas brings a wealth of experience that aligns perfectly with ISAIL's ongoing efforts in AI standardisation for India. Her expertise in technological capabilities and industrial development will be invaluable as we continue to shape the future of AI governance in our nation.

Professor Srinivas has also expressed keen interest in AI standardisation efforts for India, which resonates strongly with ISAIL's work in this area. Our founder, Abhivardhan, has been at the forefront of these efforts, notably authoring India's first privately proposed draft Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AIACT.IN).

As an Honorary Professor at University College London's STEaPP department and a former Visiting Professor at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (India), Professor Srinivas brings a unique perspective that bridges academic research and practical policy implementation. She was a Visiting Professor leading the Indian team on the Innovation for Cancer Care in Africa research.

Professor Srinivas joins us at a crucial time when India is shaping its approach to regulating generative AI. Her insights will be crucial as we navigate between fostering innovation and ensuring responsible AI development, aligning with India's aspirations to be a global leader in AI.

Recognition and Expertise

Professor Srinivas' contributions to the field have been widely recognised, including the 2015 EAEPE Joan Robinson Prize for her book "Market Menagerie: Health and Development in the Late Industrial States".

Her interdisciplinary approach and extensive advisory experience will enhance our ability to offer sound, evidence-based advice across sectors.

We are confident that Professor Srinivas' addition to our Advisory Council will strengthen ISAIL's position as a leading voice in AI policy and standardization in India. Her expertise will be instrumental as we continue to contribute to initiatives acknowledged by international bodies such as the Council of Europe.

Join us in welcoming Professor Smita Srinivas to the ISAIL Advisory Council. We look forward to the valuable insights and contributions she will bring to our organisation and the broader AI landscape in India.

Stay tuned for more updates on our collaborative efforts in shaping India's AI future!

The Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL.IN) is an artificial intelligence industry forum, founded by Abhivardhan in 2018. Our mission as an independent, not-for-profit industry forum for the analytics & AI industry in India is to promote responsible development of artificial intelligence and its standardisation in India.

Enforcing AI standards in the Indian and Indo-Pacific markets is hard. And yet, ISAIL.IN intends to document data and inputs associated with the market tendencies around three facets of artificial intelligence: its adoption, research around it, and its real-life policy implications across as many sectors as possible.

This is why, the AiStandard.io Alliance, administered by ISAIL.IN, intends to establish an allies of AI entities in India, Asia and the Global South, to develop market-friendly AI standards, with sector-specific, and sector-neutral contexts.
