On May 28, 2025, Manohar Samal, MCIArb, Distinguished Expert, Advisory Council, Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law had participated as a Group Leader in a rather insightful session organised by the Goods and Services Tax Practitioners’ Association of Maharashtra (GSTPAM), Mumbai.
As Manohar had spoken on “The Benefits of Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence for Tax Professionals” in this virtual session for an audience of tax professionals, he had highlighted major issues associated with:
1️⃣ Hallucinations and how they affect tax documents and manipulate financial documents
2️⃣ Huge problems with AI-automated software used for tax compliance handling from the government's end
3️⃣ Why language models do not contain human-evolved contexts on GST compliances and exemptions that well, like tax professionals, and what lessons we have to learn
4️⃣ Need for AI Standards and Guidelines by Professional Associations and Bar Associations for Regulating Use of Artificial Intelligence by Tax Professionals, in line with ISAIL.IN's AiStandard.io Alliance Mandate, and The Bharat Pacific Principles.
ISAIL.IN President Abhivardhan had graced the occasion by acting as the Chairperson of the session, adding up on ISAIL.IN's AI Standardisation initiatives, and raised points on the reliability of language models in tax-related regulatory procedure work.
We thank GSTPAM for hosting Manohar from ISAIL Advisory Council and inviting our President for this timely virtual discussion.
