ISAIL turns 5 Years Old Now. Thank you.

As we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL), we reflect on the remarkable journey and contributions made toward advancing AI governance, ethics, and law in India. Over the past five years, ISAIL has been at the forefront of shaping AI discourse through research, policy recommendations, and thought leadership.

Testimonials

Arundhati Kale, former intern at ISAIL, pens her best moments at ISAIL:

My brief stint at ISAIL has given me undying love for technology. It was the first time I was able to entertain the crazy idea of merging blockchain with AI for more efficient systems (not so crazy anymore) and that the government needs to pay attention to these technologies.

ISAIL was also the place where I wrote my first research paper ever; the first of my life. The journey of writing my first paper in an area that fascinated me was not only amazing but hilarious. I had no idea what a research question and research problem was, so when I was asked to submit the research problem, I ended submitting probably the world’s most ill written half page document. I remember Mr. Abhivardhan reading my document and muttering “wow” 😄😄 and then very kindly told me that “it’s not much of a document is it?”.

To this day, I giggle everytime I remember the “wow” moment.

He did end up guiding me on the very basics of research and it’s safe to say, since then,  I’ve been fortunate to have bosses who believe in mentoring. ISAIL definitely spoilt me with their patience, their passion and instilled a lifetime’s worth of love for technology.

I hope this anecdote brings you and the team as much amusement as it brings me.

Ayush Chandra, Chairperson, Policy Innovation Committee of ISAIL, pens a beautiful poem celebrating 5 years of ISAIL:

In silicon minds, a spark ignites,

As ISAIL charts new cognitive heights.

Five years of pushing boundaries wide,

Exploring realms where logic and wonder collide.

From computer vision to natural speech,

New frontiers of understanding we reach.

Algorithms learning, adapting, growing,

A digital intelligence ever-flowing.

Ethics and impact carefully weighed,

As artificial minds are carefully made.

Not to replace, but to enhance,

Human potential in a delicate dance.

Five years of questions, insights, and awe,

As we glimpse the future's unwritten law.

ISAIL leads onward with thoughtful grace,

Illuminating AI's role in time and space.

Though the road ahead remains unknown,

The seeds of progress have been sown.

May the next five years bring wisdom anew,

As ISAIL's light shines ever true.

Ishan Puranik, former intern at ISAIL, shares his experience as well:

Being recommended the most insightful and eye opening journals/articles on tech-law, tech-policy and governance by Abhivardhan and feedback sessions on papers.

Bogdan Grigorescu, Vice-President, Advisory Council of ISAIL, shares his thoughts as well:

Abhivardhan and team are digging deep.
