ISAIL.IN Appreciates PMO India’s move to establish GATI-Shakti Transport Planning and Research Organisation

ree

We welcome the decision of the Prime Minister's Office of the Government of India to approve the initiation of the Gati-Shakti Transport Planning and Research Organisation (GTPRO) within the cabinet secretariat to oversee transport planning.

The Secretariat notes that the Government intends to replace management consultants who have been overseeing and advising in such matters with technical experts in this sector. Here's the excerpt:

"The government has also noted that current planning is primarily consultant-driven, with minimal collaboration among ministries and states. Also, there is no central agency responsible for policy advocacy or recommending changes to Acts and Rules to improve planning and project implementation. Sources added that there is no mechanism for mid-course correction in case of project failures."

We hope that similar steps are taken in the AI industry as well, where the government prefers real domain experts, i.e., technology law specialists, and AI builders (scientists and engineers), in the India AI Mission.
