ISAIL Fellowship 2027: 110 Expressions of Interest in Our First Update
The Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law is pleased to share its first October 2026 update on the ISAIL Fellowship. We have received 110 expressions of interest, and we continue to welcome prospective fellows and mentors.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to express interest. This response is an encouraging beginning as we prepare for formal applications to open in January 2027.
Technical and non-technical perspectives on AI safety and governance
The ISAIL Fellowship focuses on AI safety and governance through technical and non-technical tracks. The programme will run twice a year, with each fellowship lasting three months.
AI safety and governance raise questions about systems, their uses and the institutions responsible for them. Technical analysis and non-technical perspectives each contribute to understanding those questions. The Fellowship's two-track format reflects the importance of engaging with both.
Expressions of interest remain open
Prospective fellows and mentors can express their interest until December 31, 2026. Formal applications will open in January 2027; the current expression-of-interest stage precedes that application process.
We welcome those considering participation as fellows, alongside potential mentors interested in contributing to the Fellowship. You can visit the Fellowship page to express your interest:
We are grateful for the interest received so far and look forward to sharing further updates as the Fellowship develops.
