ISAIL Commemorates World Intellectual Property Day 2026: Celebrating the Intellectual Guardians of the AI Frontier

The Indian Society of Artificial Intelligence and Law (ISAIL) is proud to mark World Intellectual Property Day 2026 by recognising the profound contributions of its Advisory Council members and executive leadership. As AI continues to challenge the traditional definitions of authorship and inventorship, ISAIL stands as a premier forum for these legal shifts, guided by some of the most distinguished minds in the industry.

Foundational Leadership and Strategic Vision

The Society honors its longest-standing associations, starting with Rodney D. Ryder, who joined as an expert in 2020. Mr. Ryder’s foundational mentorship has been vital in shaping ISAIL’s early policy interventions. Following him, Ankit Sahni joined the Advisory Council in 2021, who is a global pioneer in AI-IP (famous for the RAGHAV AI test cases),

The induction of Sunil Jose in 2024 brought a new dimension of corporate IP strategy to the Society. As the founder of SUNS LEGAL, his expertise in IP enforcement and international business has fortified ISAIL’s mission to standardize AI legal practices in the Indo-Pacific.

Global Policy and Dispute Resolution

ISAIL’s international standing is strengthened by Dr. Cristina Vanberghen, a Distinguished Expert and Senior Expert at the European Commission. Her work ensures that ISAIL’s contributions to AI policy remain synchronized with global standards like the EU AI Act.

On the development front, Kailash Chauhan, serving as the Chair of the AI Development Committee (AIDC), has spearheaded initiatives that bridge the gap between technical development and IP protection. Alongside him, Bhavana J. Sekhar, Special Executive Advisor to the ISAIL Secretariat, has been the architect of the Society's strategic outreach, co-authoring key handbooks and mentoring the next generation of tech-law professionals.

Research and Practitioner Excellence

The Society further recognizes the expertise of Vivek Doulatani, a Distinguished Expert known for his mastery in patentability and IP function for startups, and Arunima Jha, a Professional Member whose work represents the core of ISAIL’s practitioner-led community. Together, they have provided the evidentiary research necessary for ISAIL’s advocacy regarding the Lucknow and Orchha AI Principles.
